Saint Martin's Day Celebration
Sunday, November 8, 2009
1pm-3pm | FREE

ST.PAUL, MN- Saint Paul’s historic Landmark Center will celebrate Saint Martin’s Day, Sunday November 8, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, co-sponsored by Minnesota Landmarks and the Germanic American Institute. Children and their families will make traditional paper lanterns while listening to festive German music and learning customary Saint Martin's Day songs. The talented students of the Twin Cities German Immersion School will reenact the story of Saint Martin. With lanterns in hand, everyone is invited to join Saint Martin on his horse as he leads the group in a parade around Rice Park. After the parade, everyone is welcome to come back into Landmark Center to listen to music, drink complimentary coffee and cocoa and sample authentic German treats from German Specialty Imports.

Since the spirit of Saint Martin’s Day revolves around giving to those less fortunate, Minnesota Landmarks also invites visitors to bring donations for Joseph’s Coat, a free store providing goods and services to those in need, in an environment of dignity and respect. They are in particular need of men’s, women’s and children’s socks and undergarments, and new or gently used bed linens and towels. Find out more at http://www.josephscoatmn.org/

Saint Martin’s Day is a part of  Sundays at Landmark, an event series is produced by Minnesota Landmarks, the nonprofit programming and management agency for Landmark Center. Sundays at Landmark is sponsored by Travelers Foundation.  Landmark Center, owned and sponsored by Ramsey County, is located in downtown St. Paul at 75 West 5th Street, facing Rice Park, next to the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and The Saint Paul Hotel.  Landmark Center is accessible to those with impaired mobility.  Parking is available on street and in nearby Macy's, Lawson, Science Museum and RiverCentre Ramps.
