Investor and creative financier of the 1920s Wilbur B. Foshay stands trial in Landmark Center as a full cast of local judges, lawyers and actors team up to present “The Rise and Fall of W. B. Foshay,” from an original script by playwright and director Joan Elwell.
With sideline commentary by two law clerks at the Federal Courts Building (now Landmark Center) in St. Paul, Judge Joseph Molyneaux presides over the Minneapolis courtroom as federal prosecutor Fred Horowitz lays out the U. S. Government’s mail fraud case against Foshay. Foshay, whose contribution to the Minneapolis skyline still stands as the Foshay Tower, was eventually convicted and received a sentence of 15 years in prison (commuted to five by President Franklin Roosevelt). Public performances of the play will take place on Thursday, October 6 and Friday, October 7 at 7 pm in historic Landmark Center’s F. K. Weyerhaeuser Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and include a post-performance cast reception. Call 651.292.3276 to reserve tickets.
