SUMMARY:World Storytelling Day
DESCRIPTION:On or around March 20 each year\, storytelling happens worldwide. This year’s theme is MYTHS\, LEGENDS\, AND EPICS. This year’s event\, presented in partnership with Veteran Resilience Project\, will focus on the epic struggle of veterans coming home to healthy\, meaningful life. Odysseus took 10 arduous years to return from the Trojan War. There are real life veteran legends like Jesse Owens and Hugh Thompson\, but no heroic epic in history compares to the growing cadre of women veterans who dare to stand up to the travesty of military sexual assault. \nWe expect at least one mystery celebrity guest\, but confirmed tellers include Veterans Derek Anders-Turner and Hector and Trista Matascastillo; Elaine Wynne\, EMDR Therapist and Founder of Veteran Resilience Project (VRP); Mark Wagler\, Founder of Northlands Storytelling Network; and Carol McCormick\, veteran spouse and leader in Story Arts MN. \nAdmission is free\, but reservations are recommended. The evening includes information tables from veteran support groups. For more information\, or to reserve a seat or table\, contact Larry Johnson\, Veteran and Storyteller\, at larryjvfp@gmail.com.
