DESCRIPTION:KidsJam with Nirmala Rajasekar \nLEARN Ragas and Talas (Melodies and Rhythms) performed on India’s ancient instruments\, the veena and mridangam. LISTEN to an Indian folktale accompanied by these fascinating instruments. CREATE your own veena and PLAY interesting sounds to add to the story. \nNirmala Rajasekar will be joined by percussionist Murugaboopathi. \nKidsJam workshops are 60-minute interactive sessions for children ages 5-12 to experience musical performances\, get involved through creative activities and movement\, and learn about the people\, cultures\, and sounds behind the music. \nSpace and supplies are limited. Advance registration is highly recommended.
