SUMMARY:HORA: Egg Painting - A Folk Art Tradition
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Romanian American Cultural Center every Sunday in March for a special program exploring the rich world of Romanian egg painting\, a centuries-old folk art where wax\, color\, and symbolism transform fragile shells into vibrant expressions of identity and belief. Romanian artists are known for their intricate wax-resist techniques\, bold geometric patterns\, and deeply symbolic motifs that reflect themes of rebirth\, protection\, and continuity. \nAlongside these masterpieces\, the exhibit highlights other Eastern European traditions to show how regional styles share roots yet diverge in striking ways. Ukrainian pysanky are celebrated for their fine\, lace‑like lines and layered dyes; Polish kraszanki emphasize natural dyes and simple\, earthy designs; Slovak and Czech eggs often feature floral motifs and bright\, cheerful palettes. By comparison\, Romanian eggs stand out for their dense patterning\, strong contrasts\, and the unmistakable influence of regional folk embroidery and woodcarving. \nTogether\, these traditions reveal a shared cultural language expressed through color and symbol — yet each carries its own artistic fingerprint. Egg Painting: A Folk Art Tradition invites visitors to discover how a humble egg becomes a canvas for storytelling across Eastern Europe. \n
