This year, Skylark Opera presents Black on Broadway, a program highlighting the extraordinary contributions of Black artists in American musical theater—from the brilliance of early Black vaudeville to the vibrant voices shaping Broadway today. Settle in for a 75-minute musical journey tracing the legacy of Broadway’s Black creators. Four dynamic vocal artists bring this history to life through a rich mix of solo and ensemble numbers that celebrate innovation, resilience, and artistry.

Skylark Opera Theatre is known for its wide-ranging repertoire of opera and musical theater, emphasizing strongly balanced musical and theatrical values. The company has presented a unique mix of familiar favorites and new works, including many productions new to the Twin Cities stage.
