Guided Tours

Please note public building tours will not take place on March 19, 2023 and April 23, 2023.

Landmark Center offers public and private tours that range from a broad presentation of the building’s history and its beautifully restored courtrooms and Cortile, to tours tailored to the specific needs of the groups or individuals taking the tours.

Free guided tours* of Landmark Center, led by the knowledgeable guides from the Landmark Center Volunteer Association, are back on Sundays at 12:30pm. The public can join the tour by meeting at the Visitor Information Center on first floor at the 5th Street entrance. Reservations are not required. The tour last approximately 45 minutes. For groups of 10 or more, please book a scheduled group tour.

Guests must adhere to County requirements that all visitors to County-owned buildings wear a face mask (unless exempted by medical necessity, in which case another form of covering should be employed by the guest). Please note that there may be other COVID-19 safety protocols that will be followed.

The building is also open all public hours for self-guided tours. Touring guides can be picked up at the Visitor Information Center.

For those who are unable to visit us, we invite you to enjoy a historic and architectural tour that takes you through St. Paul’s jewel: Landmark Center, formerly the “Old Federal Courts Building,” easily one of the most photographed buildings in St. Paul. Led by Visitor Services Manager Jenny Reinhard, learn about the architecture, historic events, and famous – and infamous – people who walked through Landmark Center’s doors since 1902.

In 2021, The Cultural Landscape Foundation brought its “What’s Out There Weekend” to the Twin Cities, and we were proud to be a sponsor!  Although the weekend is over, you can still explore Minneapolis’ and St. Paul’s amazing cultural landscapes by downloading a copy of What’s Out There – Twin Cities Guidebook or by going on TCLF’s website and exploring its extensive online database of national sites.

Private group tours and specialty tours can be scheduled with the Minnesota Landmarks office.  Please note there is an additional charge of $25 per tour guide for all evening tours scheduled after 5 pm.  For more information, or to book a tour, please email or call 651.292.3237.
