HORA: Romanian Folk Arts Workshop – Masks and Dances

FreeJoin us for an immersive cultural experience with the renowned Izvorasul Dance Ensemble, a treasured part of the Romanian-American community for over 45 years. Under the leadership of founder and choreographer John Omorean, Izvorasul has brought to life more than forty regional dance suites, celebrating the beauty and diversity of Romania’s folk traditions. During the workshop, guests will learn the basic steps of regional Romanian dances in a fun, inclusive atmosphere—no experience required!
Create Your Own Traditional Romanian Mask
In the spirit of Romanian seasonal celebrations, dive into a mask-making workshop inspired by ancient winter and harvest rituals. Blend the spirit of Halloween and Christmas as you design your own masks modeled after folkloric characters like the Capra (goat), Ursul (bear), and Mosul. Learn about the symbolism, history, and craftsmanship behind these artistic traditions while creating a unique cultural keepsake.
